CASE STUDY: UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE

University College, University of Melbourne, Victoria.

DuoGlass was the preferred supplier to this major project of two new residential wings and a dining hall.

A local architect oversaw the design and construction of the buildings, which were built to ‘Passivhaus principles’, optimising thermal properties to reduce heating and cooling costs. We supplied 240 window frames and in excess of 1000 IGUs (insulated glass units).

The architects had specified the Kommerling profile, which together with the glass combination and the hardware configuration had to be specially manufactured in Germany.

DuoGlass has previously worked on other Passivhaus projects, including the first-ever Passivhaus Home in Western Australia, built in partnership with Consortium Builders.

CASE STUDY: DIAMOND WAY BUDDHIST CENTRE

34 Prout Way, Bibra Lake.

Since 2017, the Perth Diamond Way Buddhist Centre has been at its permanent home at 34 Prout Way in Bibra Lake.

This centre holds a number of weekly talk and meditation events, for beginners as well as more experienced practitioners.

The nature of this practice requires a serene and calming space, and DuoGlass were approached in 2020 to help bring this to life.

DuoGlide was the answer: a unique product offered by DuoGlass in Australia which is a far superior alternative to bi-fold doors. It’s 100% weatherproof, sealed and ultra-secure.

This low-maintenance product with effortless gliding rails gave them a streamlined door solution, offering natural light into the centre, with an expansive width up to 6m.

CASE STUDY: RENDEZVOUS STUDIO HOTEL

Rendezvous Studio Hotel, Mount Street, Perth CBD.

Formerly known as the Marque Hotel, the building underwent a total internal refurbishment in 2011. Situated in the heart of Perth, the Rendezvous Studio Hotel is perfect for travellers wanting easy access to transport and some of the city’s biggest attractions.

The renovations included replacing 215 IGUs (insulated glass units) and 75 windows on the four levels that faced the busy Mitchell Freeway. DuoGlass was successful in winning the contract and completed the installation in late 2011. This installation of our double-glazed windows significantly decreased the level of noise heard coming from the freeway, foot traffic and construction around the area.

A quick look at recent reviews on Trip Advisor speaks for the success of the project: “The room was bright and sunny. With basic decor and bathroom. I had a very large room overlooking the motorway. However, there was no noise from the road.”

CASE STUDY: EDEN APARTMENTS

Eden Apartments, Mill Point Road, South Perth.

As one of the most highly sought after and desirable residential addresses in Perth, Eden Apartments was a prestigious project that required premium specifications. With only two apartments per level and direct lift entry, privacy was a key selling feature.

DuoGlass was approached to supply the double glazed windows, and our customised timber-look uPVC frames, combined with the premium windows, enhanced both the aesthetic and the security of this exclusive group of 32 apartments.

Situated on one of South Perth’s busiest roads and a few streets down from the Mitchell Freeway, noise proofing the apartments was a major priority for the developers to give their tenants the best experience possible.

Our double-glazed windows and doors were the perfect solution for reducing external noise from traffic and construction in the area while keeping the aesthetics of a wood-look finish – providing a balance of functionality and style.
